Thursday 6th August 2015 - Nostalgic Train Charter


The essentials: Leave Butterley Station @ 7pm. Down the line through Golden Valley to Swanwick & back aboard a Nostalgic diesel multiple-unit. Guided walk around the museum and old sheds and a ride on the narrow gauge railway. Alight, and enjoy a three course meal (special diets catered for). Back to Butterley for 10.30pm to 11pm. Cost 25 each including meal and narrow gauge train trip. Wives and partners welcome. Meet 6:45pm at The Midland Railway, Butterley Station, Ripley, DE5 3QZ

We will depart Butterley Station at 7:00pm for Swanwick Junction, arriving there at 7:30pm whereupon we are invited to tour the internationally renowned 'Matthew Kirtley Museum Building'.


We will then take a ride on the popular Golden Valley Light Railway - a narrow gauge railway which travels through the beautiful Swanwick Country Park, providing a variety of perspectives upon the many attractions of the Swanwick complex.


Upon our return to Swanwick Junction, we will dine together in 'Johnson's Buffet' (menu below) where a bar will be available, serving a small range of beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks. The train will depart Swanwick Junction at 10:00pm, returning to Butterley Station at about 10:30pm. Fabulous!

  2. Brandy snap basket with a duo of mixed ice-cream

  3. Jam roly poly with custard
